Abstract:

As part of the exploratory financing for international projects of NOVA FCSH – 5th edition of 2018, Paulo Nuno Vicente, coordinator of iNOVA Media Lab has a new project approved: COSMOS – Computational synesthetic methods for the cognitive study of multimodal digital narratives (Summary:  Evidence from cognitive neuroscience suggests that not only does the brain has a narrative basis – a regionally distributed neural network in the human central nervous system – as the ability for storytelling is responsible for structuring memory. COSMOS addresses digital multimodal representational grammars (syntactic, aural, visual, kinetic and haptic), mapping the relations between cognitive processes and narrative structures).
