Abstract:
The history of  Portuguese journalism is unwrittem yet. The general objective of this project is to write it. So, this project ha the following main objectives: To build, diachronically, a chronological and narrative history of Portuguese journalism, taking into account, synchronous and contextually, regulatory, political, economic and cultural factors affecting its development and business models; 2. To divide the history of Portuguese journalism in periods, identifying periods when the journalistic phenomena converged and when they diverged, considering the legal, political, economic and cultural context. 3. To elaborate a history of journalists in Portugal to ascertain the temporal changes of the concept of “journalist” and the consequences of those changes on journalism and on the social influence of journalism and journalists, to identify paradigmatic journalists and to trace the establishment of journalist associations and unions and the professionalization of journalists.
