The deadline for articles’ submission for n. 50 of Revista de Comunicação e Linguagens/ Journal of Communication and Languages was extended until 20th November. This issue is dedicated to the theme DRAMATURGIAS OF EXILE, DRAMATURGIES OF RESISTANCE.
This issue is edited by Claudia Madeira (ICNOVA/ NOVA FCSH) and Fernando Matos Oliveira (Ceis20, Universidade de Coimbra).
Artists and researchers from different areas, in step with what has been happening internationally, have been revisiting discourses and practices of theatrical creation taking place at moments of great social and political adversity. This growing interest suggests that the historical correlation between exile, escape, and thought has taken on renewed life, showing us the enormous resilience of the creative act in its capacity to operate and survive oppressive and often violent contexts. This call for papers aims to bring together in a thematic volume collaborations exploring the following topics, among others, that can articulate the duality suggested by dramaturgies of exile, dramaturgies of resistance:
. theatrical creation and censorship in political regimes
. the relation between theatre, displacement and exile
. creations in dialogue with memory and archive
. theatre and its relationship with oppressive political systems and situations
. exile and theatrical practices in relation to documentary theatre
. colonialism and post-colonialism in theatrical creation
. case studies on the dynamics of exile and resistance
This issue of the RCL Nº 50 aims to be a “place of memories” for this broad set of creative processes and contexts, inviting researchers and artists to problematize the course of historical experiences of art, theatre under censorship, contemporary documentary theatre in the transition from the colonial world-system to our globalized world.
The articles will be subject to blind peer review and should be sent, with strict observance of the journal rules of submission, through the OJS platform.
