Maria José Brites (ICNOVA collaborating researcher and associate professor at the Lusófona University of Porto), Inês Amaral (associate professor at the University of Coimbra) and Marisa Torres da Silva have edited a book, Literacias cívicas e críticas: refletir e praticar//Civic and critical literacies: reflection and practice..that has just been published by the Centro de Estudos Comunicação e Sociedade (CECS) at the Universidade do Minho. The volume reflects on a diverse range of civic contexts, including civic and critical literacies, presenting practical proposals that educators of different types, technicians working in associations, families, or other social actors can use to think about media education.
In addition to co-editing the book, Marisa Torres da Silva is the author of the chapter “Literacia dos média e discurso de ódio//Media Literacy and Hate Speech”. ICNOVA researchers Serrano, Paulo Nuno Vicente and Pedro Coelho, have also contributed chapters.
