Plan S is organized by Science Europe and aims to ensure that all publications resulting from publicly funded research are either published in open access magazines or platforms or made available through unrestricted, open access repositories.
Joining Plan S will make scientific results accessible to the entire scientific community, thereby enabling FCT investment to contribute to the acceleration of knowledge.
This initiative is particularly timely during the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, given that the main priorities in the area of research and development will be:
1) relationships between science, employment and resilience;
2) open and collaborative research;
and 3) enhancement of research careers.
This latter point includes a revision of the Code of Conduct aimed at embracing European research career development and will make clear recommendations for Open Science principles.
