Carla Fernandes (Coordinator of the ICNOVA Black Box Lab) was one of the academics honored in the book Women in Science, launched online on March 8, International Women’s Day. This was a Ciência Viva initiative that welcomed the participation of the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor. The work brings together more than a hundred portraits of researchers captured by the lens of photographers Clara Azevedo, José Carlos Carvalho, Luís Filipe Catarino and Rita Carmo. From a broad spectrum of fields including biology, mathematics, chemistry, social science, physics, archeology, neuroscience, geography, engineering, history, space sciences and philosophy, 101 success stories are told that have greatly contributed to the rooting of science in Portuguese society and that Ciência Viva hopes will inspire young people to follow their vocation.
