Obi.Media—Observatory for Media Innovation—which is part of ICNOVA, will be launched this Wednesday 24th November, at 6 pm, in Auditorium 1 of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities – NOVA University of Lisbon . The date marks the National Day of Scientific Culture and admission to the launch is free. This observatory aims to monitor and analyse creative, digital, social and sustainable innovation practices present in the media and other areas of the Portuguese cultural and creative sectors. At the same time, it intends to identify obstacles to innovation, and in conjunction with professionals, propose responses aimed at the market and society. The launch event will include a presentation of the results of two brief studies on digital innovation practices in the press sector and national museums, as well as two debates. António Ponte (director of the Soares dos Reis National Museum), Tiago Guerreiro (communication officer at the Bordalo Pinheiro Museum) and Denise Grinspum (a researcher who has held senior positions at several museums in Brazil) will take us through the first study, which investigates innovation in museums. The second study, meanwhile, proposes the question, “How can we innovate in journalism in Portugal?”, which will be answered by Catarina Carvalho (director of Mensagem), João Pedro Pereira (editor of Publico’s newsletters and digital projects) and Tiago Sigorelho (founder of Gerador).
