The International Colloquium “Political Interest Networks in Facebook Portugal” marks the end of the research project hosted by ICNOVA under the coordination of Jorge Martins Rosa. The research project documented the communication activities of official and unofficial political actors in the social network platform Facebook during the 2019 election year.
The keynote speakers will be international researchers Anders Olof Larsson, from the Kristiana College University (Norway), and Diego Ceccobelli, from the University of Milan (Italy).
The event also features a roundtable on the future of research on social media platforms, with the participation of Bernhard Rieder, from the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands), Janna Joceli Omena, from the University of Warwick (United Kingdom) and Inês Amaral, from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Coimbra; and three sessions on hate speech and populism; netactivism and citizenship, and politics beyond Facebook.
The event will take place on September 15 and 16, 2022, in amphitheater 217 (2nd floor) of Colégio Almada Negreiros (CAN). This colloquium is organized as part of the research project funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (PTDC/COM-CSS/28269/2017).
