T-C (Transcloud of Performance) Plataforma de performance entre Portugal, Brasil, África e Ásia
Este projeto visa criar uma plataforma internacional de investigação e curadoria dedicada ao estudo das relações (in)comuns ou “subcomuns” que moldam a performance artística contemporânea em contextos transnacionais e pós-coloniais (Harney & Moten 2025). Aborda uma lacuna crítica no panorama atual da investigação: a ausência de um campo estruturado e comparativo que examine práticas performáticas que liguem Portugal, o Brasil e territórios africanos e asiáticos marcados por histórias coloniais e por um património cultural e linguístico comum, incluindo contextos em que o português se cruza com outras línguas indígenas autóctones.
Esta plataforma é simbolicamente concebida como uma “nuvem” que se move para diversas territorialidades num lugar heterotópico, no sentido foucaultiano, uma reserva de espaço flutuante para a imaginação. A “nuvem” sinaliza mobilidade, porosidade e infraestrutura digital, enquanto permite um ponto de vista crítico sobre passados assombrados (Traverso 2017) e futuros emergentes. O projeto opera, assim, na intersecção entre arquivo e repertório (Taylor 2003), memória e futuridade (Schneider 2011), performance e historiografia (Burke 2005). Reconhecendo que tanto a cultura como a língua portuguesa inscrevem heranças colonialistas, o nosso posicionamento é que devemos abraçar todas as vertentes da dinâmica e recriação da língua e, mais do que isso, pensar esta geografia como reveladora de um trânsito, uma nuvem de diferentes línguas, onde o português pode mesmo ser uma ausência.
Chamada para Projectos Artísticos:
Como se reflete a performatividade da História (Burke 2005) nos trânsitos artísticos da cena contemporânea entre Portugal, Brasil, África e Ásia? Esta chamada para projetos artísticos tem por objetivo convocar artistas/curadores ou investigadores, destes diferentes territórios, a participarem numa plataforma de performance artística que se apresenta através da imagem metafórica de uma nuvem com formas diferenciadas – uma nuvem-jangada, uma nuvem-ponte, uma nuvem-estrada, uma nuvem-rede, uma nuvem-nuvem, sempre em transformação e em relação. Esta plataforma-nuvem pretende re-simbolizar as singularidades das trajetórias, temas e propostas dos artistas contemporâneos portugueses, brasileiros, africanos ou asiáticos que fazendo uso de linguagens da performance, através de abordagens transdisciplinares, da performatividade e do hibridismo, cruzam os limites deste amplo território cultural, onde se falaa língua portuguesa, ou esta ainda se faz presente nalgumas expressões linguísticas ou culturais, relacionando-se com os contextos internacionais da arte.
Este lugar (in)comum de partilhas pretende assim dar a conhecer, discutir, aprofundar e expandir os tracejados comuns e/ou incomuns, onde se articulam imaginários e legados históricos, procurando retirá-los, como referem Harney & Moten, dos lugares subcomuns (“undercommom”) a que são muitas vezes remetidos.
Como?
(1) Através da apresentação de um projeto representativo do trabalho artístico ou de investigação, que contemple uma ou várias das seguintes questões:
Que novas performatividades híbridas e transculturais emergem de uma expansão da arte da performance, no contexto dos imaginários partilhados entre Portugal, Brasil, África e Ásia? Num cenário em que estas geografias se cruzam, misturam e se dissolvem em múltiplos lugares pelo mundo, que novos mapeamentos se produzem? Que opacidades lhes são inerentes? Quais são os seus espaços e tempos de visibilidade? Quais os seus temas, modos de operação e formas de receção? Que arquivos mobilizam, criam ou recriam?
De que forma estas práticas contribuem para descolonizar ou problematizar a cultura, o conhecimento, os corpos, os gestos, os rituais, as memórias e os objetos? O futuro que nelas se inscreve constitui uma continuidade do passado ou propõe novas ressignificações? Que performances emergem num tempo pensado como cíclico e espiral? Como se preservam e quais são as raízes, enquanto ativam as dinâmicas da globalização? Que hubris e nemesis as atravessam?
(2) O convite à apresentação de propostas visa a seleção por um júri, de um conjunto de projetos para integrar um ciclo internacional de seminários com edição online, bem como o seu posterior registo num website da plataforma em construção. Desta primeira call resultarão ainda um artigo científico e a edição de um número especial de uma revista indexada em open access.
O ciclo de seminários terá por base os tópicos apresentados abaixo:
(1) O Futuro do Ritual (reencenação, corporeidade e temporalidades espirais);
(2) A hibridez é o novo Esperanto? (performatividades transculturais)
(3) Representações (Des)coloniais (máscaras, objetos, documentos, monumentos);
(4) Geografias Artísticas de Portugal, Brasil, África e Ásia (uma ampla geografia para objetivos (in)comuns);
(5) Bienais e festivais, as ruas e a WWW (lugar para inscrição artística da arte performática).

This project aims to create an international research and curatorial platform dedicated to the study of the (un)common or “subcommon” relationships that shape contemporary artistic performance in transnational and post-colonial contexts (Harney & Moten 2025). It addresses a critical gap in the current research landscape: the absence of a structured and comparative field that examines
performance practices connecting Portugal, Brazil, and African and Asian territories marked by colonial histories and a shared cultural and linguistic heritage, including contexts where Portuguese
intersects with other autochthonous indigenous languages.
This platform is symbolically conceived as a “cloud” that moves to diverse territorialities in a heterotopic place, in the Foucauldian sense, a reserve of floating space for the imagination. The “cloud” signals mobility, porosity, and digital infrastructure, while simultaneously allowing for a critical point of view on haunted pasts (Traverso 2017) and emerging futures. The project thus
operates at the intersection of archive and repertoire (Taylor 2003), memory and futurity (Schneider 2011), performance and historiography (Burke 2005).
Recognizing that both Portuguese culture and language bear colonial legacies, our position is that we must embrace all aspects of the dynamics and recreation of the language and, more than that, consider this geography as revealing a transit, a cloud of different languages, where Portuguese may even be absent.
Call for Artistic Projects:
How does the performativity of History (Burke 2005) reflect in the artistic transits of the contemporary scene between Portugal, Brazil, Africa, and Asia? This call for artistic projects aims to invite artists/curators or researchers from these different territories to participate in an artistic performance platform that presents itself through the metaphorical image of a cloud with differentiated forms – a cloud-raft, a cloud-bridge, a cloud-road, a cloud-net, a cloud-cloud, always in transformation and in relation. This cloud-platform intends to re-symbolize the singularities of the trajectories, themes, and proposals of contemporary Portuguese, Brazilian, African, or Asian artists who, using performance languages, through transdisciplinary approaches, performativity, and hybridity, cross the limits of this broad cultural territory, where the Portuguese language is spoken, or where it is still present in some linguistic or cultural expressions, relating to the international contexts of art.
This (un)common space for sharing aims to make known, discuss, deepen and expand the common and/or uncommon outlines where imaginaries and historical legacies are articulated, seeking to remove them, as Harney & Moten refer to them, from the subcommon (“undercommon”) places to which they are often relegated.
How?
(1) By presenting a representative project of artistic or research work that addresses one or more of the following questions:
What new hybrid and transcultural performativities emerge from an expansion of performance art, in the context of shared imaginaries between Portugal, Brazil, Africa, and Asia? In a scenario where these geographies intersect, mix, and dissolve in multiple places around the world, what new mappings are produced? What opacities are inherent to them? What are their spaces and times of visibility? What are their themes, modes of operation, and forms of reception? What archives do they mobilize, create, or recreate?
How do these practices contribute to decolonizing or problematizing culture, knowledge, bodies, gestures, rituals, memories, and objects? Does the future inscribed in them constitute a continuity of the past or do we propose new resignifications? What performances emerge in a time conceived as cyclical and spiral? How are they preserved and what are their roots, while at the same time activating the dynamics of globalization? What hubris and nemesis run through them?
(2) The call for proposals aims at the selection by a jury of a set of projects to be included in an international cycle of seminars with online publication, as well as their subsequent registration on a website of the platform under construction. This first call will also result in a scientific article and the publication of a special issue of journal indexed on open access.
The seminar series will be based on the topics presented below:
(1) The Future of Ritual (reenactment, corporeality, and spiral temporalities);
(2) Is Hybridity the New Esperanto? (transcultural performativities);
(3) (De)colonial Representations (masks, objects, documents, monuments);
(4) Artistic Geographies of Portugal, Brazil, Africa, and Asia (a broad geography for (un)common
objectives);
(5) Biennials and festivals, the streets and the WWW (a place for the artistic inscription of
performance art).
