ICNOVA announces its availability to host applicants for the 2026 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships, both through internal applications from its own researchers and through external applications from international candidates interested in developing their research at the institute.
The MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships call, opened on 9 April 2026 under the European Commission, provides a total budget of €399.05 million and supports researchers holding a PhD in advancing their careers through international, interdisciplinary, and inter-sectoral mobility. The scheme is expected to fund nearly 1,600 projects worldwide.
The fellowships are open to researchers of all nationalities with up to eight years of postdoctoral experience and can be developed in any scientific field, including social sciences and communication studies. Applicants must design their proposal in collaboration with a prospective supervisor and a host institution, such as a university or research centre, with projects lasting up to 24 months in Europe or in associated countries. Global Fellowships additionally include a research period in third countries, followed by a return phase in Europe.
ICNOVA welcomes expressions of interest from potential applicants wishing to develop their research in areas aligned with its research groups and thematic lines, as well as from internal researchers considering submission under the MSCA scheme. The institute encourages interdisciplinary and innovative projects addressing contemporary challenges in media, communication, culture, and digital transformation.
Interested candidates are invited to contact the ICNOVA Coordination by email (coordenacaoicnova@fcsh.unl.pt) to explore possible supervision and project alignment prior to submission.
The MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026 call will remain open until 9 September 2026, with results expected in early 2027.
